Metalex Adds to Sales Team {4/1/2010}
Metalex is pleased to announce the addition of Muhammad Raheel to our team as R&D Applications Engineer. This is a newly created position that will offer Metalex additional resources to help increase sales and develop new markets and applications. Muhammad has an extensive background in project management, research and development. Most recently, he was Project Manager with American Science and Technology, a company that focuses on alternative renewable energy technologies such as solar and wind power. Prior to this, he was employed with U.S. Gypsum Corporation as Product Development Engineer. In this capacity, he led a team of professionals in new product development for suspended and specialty metal ceiling components and systems. Muhammad’s prior positions also included Design Engineer with Tempel Steel where he led initiatives in cost reduction and process improvements; and as Development Engineer with Dresser-Rand Company where he held responsibility for aerodynamic and mechanical design of components for centrifugal compressors. Muhammad’s primary role at Metalex will be to lead research and development into new markets in which Metalex currently does not participate. His initial focus will be working with customers with solid steel applications and converting them to products Metalex manufactures. Muhammad holds a Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and is currently working on his M.B.A. from University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business.

Metalex Expands into Architectural Applications.
Metalex, a leading provider of expanded metal and perforated metal, is successfully adding another market niche to its already impressive portfolio. The company has completed or is in the process of completing three unrelated contracts to provide expanded metal products for use in upscale architectural applications. In the first of these applications, Metalex expanded metal is being used as a decorative accent at the ticketing counter of a prominent U.S. airline at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. The second location, an upscale fitness center in a New York suburb, is also using Metalex expanded metal to create a unique, contemporary look. A third project, still awaiting final design approval, will utilize expanded metal in a national footwear chain. Notes Metalex Director of Sales, John Hughes, “We’re seeing an increasing demand for our products in architecture and building applications. Customers, both new and existing, appreciate the broad range of product and technical support we offer for any application.”
Following the success of expanded metal for use in architectural applications and the recent acquisition of perforated metal product capabilities, Metalex expects to secure a prominent position in the growing decorative metal products industry.
