expanded metal - Terminology
The distance from a point on a bond to a corresponding point on the following bond measured across the SHORT WAY of DIAMOND.
The distance from a point on a bond to a corresponding point on the following bond measured across the LONG WAY of DIAMOND.
The intersection of two strands.
SHORT WAY of OPENING, the distance measured from the inside of the bond across to the inside of the bond SWD.
LONG WAY of OPENING, the distance measured from the inside of the bond across to the inside of the bond LWD.
Amount of material fed into the press to produce one strand.
In standard, it is the gauge of the base metal. In flattened, it is the overall thickness of the finished sheet.
Also called regular, unflattened, or raised expanded metal. Expanded metal as it comes from the press. The strands and bonds are set at a uniform angle to the plane of the sheet.
Standard expanded metal that has been passed through a cold roll mill. Bonds and strands are turned down to produce a smooth surface.
Cutting expanded m etal to size to produce various sizes and shapes.
MACHINE RUN TO SIZE
Expanded metal as it comes off the press with closed diamond edges.
Expanded metal cut to size leaving open diamond edges.
Expanded metal cut to size leaving closed diamond edges.
Short Way of Diamond
Long Way of Diamond
Optional diamond direction
Can reduce your cost up to 25%. Our dual production capability allows us to produce lengths in either the short way of the diamond or the long way of the diamond.
Improve handling safety during your assembly operations. Closed diamonds on all sides eliminate sharp edges and are available on all but the smallest patterns.
