Opening sizes are determined by a combination of short way diamond, raw material thickness, and strand width.

It is calculated by the following formula:

Weight Expanded per Square foot
Weight Raw Material per Square foot
Metalex produces expanded metals that range from:
.005" to 2.00" Short Way Diamond and 25% to 90% Open Area
